Zimbabwe & Zambia . . .

Zimbabwe and Zambia in the wet season are truly a photographer’s dream! Lush national parks, roar of Victoria Falls, very few other safari vehicles where we go and abundant wildlife in Hwange National Park and Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Boat cruises along the Zambezi River just upstream from Victoria Falls with hippos banging on the bottom of your boat letting you know they don’t appreciate your presence. Prides of lion roam Hwange stalking game for meals; cheetahs perched atop termite mounds watching for prey and threats alike; elephants meandering through the forest knocking over trees for fun and food; and a mind-blowing presence of birds, reptiles, and amphibians as well.

The Smoke that Thunders . . .

Mosi-oa-Tunya is the local name for Victoria Falls which means “The Smoke that Thunders” and this term refers to the constant mist that is present and looks like smoke rising up above the falls as they plunge over 350′ down into the canyon! An awe-inspiring scene which I have explored on foot from both the Zimbabwe and Zambian side, as well as above by helicopter! I could easily live near the falls as I feel in love with this destination on my first trip!
