West Texas Wildlife
Photographing the varied wildlife of Big Bend is a wonderful challenge for the determined and patient photographer. Whether you are watching Mexican Black Bear cubs follow their mother; a Lucifer Hummingbird guarding it’s flower patch; a Western Coachwhip slithering across the sunbaked desert floor; or the jewel-like appearance of a Scarab Beetle, the results will be sure to fill your Flickr feed, Instagram or Facebook page with images that bring you joy for years to come. Here is a small sample of some of Lee’s images.
Zero, Two, Four, Six and Eight Legged Creatures Abound . . .
More bird species (more than 450 to be exact) have been seen in Big Bend National Park than any other national park, and the park is host to 75 species of mammals, 56 reptiles, and 11 amphibians. This doesn’t even include some of the species seen in the Davis Mountains, around Sanderson/Langtry, and Balmorhea that aren’t even found in the national park. Many of these animals live in very specific habitats within the park and that is where the local knowledge of when and where pays dividends. Let me help you see or photograph that special species.
