Galapagos Islands Photography Workshop

The Galapagos Islands are one of the most renowned eco-travel destinations in the world. The history, the exploration, the proximity of the wildlife, and the scenery all combine to create a photographers dream. In September 2019, I co-lead a photography workshop with Kevin Laughlin, owner of Wildside Nature Tours. The workshop begins in Quito, Ecuador with one day spent photographing hummingbirds. The regular destination, which is designed for photographers, was unavailable due to a landslide that took out a portion of the highway. Our alternate destination, Alambi Reserve, had 14 species of hummers which was great, but it wasn’t really set up for great photography. Nevertheless, it was a great time. Our trip then took us to Baltra where our Galapagos Islands photography adventure began. Below are some of my favorite images from the 2019 workshop. I will be heading back to the Galapagos Islands in September 2021.

Images of the wildlife & land . . .

Galapagos Penguins, Galapagos Sea Lions, Green Sea Turtles, many species of Darwin’s finches, Galapagos Hawk, several species of marine iguana’s, sharks, shorebirds, and so much more vied for our photographic attention. In addition, pelagic birds such as Galapagos Shearwater, Magnificent & Greater Frigatebirds, and White-vented Storm Petrels, were constantly flying by the boat. Getting to use a wide angle lens on Nazca Boobies, iguanas, and nesting frigate birds is an experience you will never forget. Won’t you plan to join me in 2021 . . .
